East Meets West on the Tapas Plate

Do you like your food vividly flavorful and creatively multicultural?

If so, feast your eyes on the Spice Route section of the menu at our Dupont Circle restaurant. It’s full of innovative blends that result when east meets west. American and Continental ingredients are the basis of the tapas-inspired small plates. Think crab meat, portobello mushrooms, polenta cake, salmon, shrimp cocktail, calamari, a mozzarella and tomato salad, and so on. Then imagine them spiced up with Indian seasonings and preparation techniques.

lamb vindaloo empanadas

What results are well-executed worldly creations. Latin America and the East come together in tapas such as Southwestern roasted garlic and black bean hummus with Parmesan nan. Another such selection is spicy lamb vindaloo empanadas, pictured. The empanadas are a spicy combination of stewed lamb and potatoes contained in a traditional Mexican empanada. ¡Qué rico!

If you crave more such Latin American small plates, we also invite you to visit Fiesta, a Tex-Mex Tapas Restaurant and Lounge just a few doors south of Heritage India Dupont Circle. Under the same ownership as Heritage India, Fiesta is a celebration of upbeat flavors and colors inspired by the American Southwest. The menu features a fusion of Latin-inspired and Continental tapas as well as tacos, enchiladas, fajitas and other Mexican classics. Like Heritage India Dupont Circle, the don’t-miss Happy Hour includes drink specials and two-for-one tapas (Buy one, get a second of equal or lesser value free in the bar area only).

Fiesta happy hour takes place nightly from 4:30-7:30 pm at 1327 Connecticut Av NW. Visit www.fiestaloungedc.com and connect with Fiesta on Facebook and Twitter for all the Latin flavors your taste buds desire. ¡Buen provecho!

Taste Some Tapas (and Save Big at Happy Hour)

Dahi bhalla

Khamman dhokla

Our Dupont Circle restaurant boasts 35+ small plates and street food choices ranging from traditional to modern fusion. Classic options include dahi bhalla, lentil dumplings in a light yogurt sauce. We’ve found that guests are surprised to find the yogurt sauce, so do note that it’s served as pictured. Another traditional small plate is khamman dhokla, a flavorful steamed lentil cake with mustard seeds. If you trend modern, you’ll find innovations such as lamb vindaloo empanadas and Mango Tango, a rare blend of fresh mango fillets with boneless tandoori chicken on a bed of field greens and asparagus spears.

Whatever your tastes, you can enjoy many of these dishes for a big discount during our nightly happy hour. From 5 to 7 pm at the bar, tapas are buy one, get one free! (Free tapa of equal or lesser value.) Your savory savings await … We’ll save a barstool for you.

Guests often begin at the bar, then move to a dining room table to feast on Tandoori grilled dishes, curries, nan and other selections from the full menu.
