Vegan, Vegetarian and Meaty Ways to Celebrate National Eat Beans Day

Today is National Eat Beans Day. We suggest you celebrate with Dal Makhani, our house black lentils. One bite and you’ll be fully addicted. But don’t just take our word for it. In praising these glorious beans, the Washington Post theorized they “appear to be a union of silk, earth and midnight.”

For a vegan bean dish, order our Masala Dal, yellow lentils with tantalizing herbs and spices.

At the opposite end, meat eaters can try our two curries that incorporate lentils. We’ve got Dhansak, a popular Indian curry from the Parsi community that mixes elements of Persian and Gujarati cuisine into a rich curry of lentils, pumpkin, eggplant and spices. And we’ve got Hyderabadi Murgh Haleem, a popular Turkish dish that made its way into the Indian subcontinent via the Nizam of Hyderabad. Literally meaning “patient and merciful,” it is made of ground chicken, crushed wheat, barley, lentils and spices.

Now, the only thing left to do is make your selections and eat your beans today.
